GARY LINEKER AT THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
The course here at Carnoustie for the Open Championship is absolutely magnificent.

It was criticised back in 1999 for its unfair rough, but there are no such complaints this time round.

It really is a true test for the players and they are all pretty unanimous in their praise for it.

It's in great condition and the rough is fairly gentle. However, when the wind blows we know it can be brutal so the weather is going to play a huge role.

I've been lucky to play it a few times and it is certainly one of my favourites.

My experiences, like at most golf courses, has involved seeing a lot of the bunkers and going out of bounds!

I love links golf and it's good fun.

My golf is very much like my football was, useless from long range, but not bad when I get close.

Tiger Woods is, as always, the favourite and it's hard to go against him.

He is a genius. You only get one in a sport once in a blue moon and he really is the real deal.

If he plays well, we know he will win.

Sergio Garcia has got the talent, there is no question about that, but he needs to prove to himself that he can do it.

Once he wins that first Major I'm sure he will go on to win many more.

We have waited eight years since a European last won a Major and it would be so nice to see one win again.

As for the rest of the field, I spotted US Open champion Angel Cabrera at 50-1 before the tournament which I thought was a great bet.

He stuttered in his second round but it is still early days and in a field this big, who knows what could happen?

Enjoy the action,

Gary
